The Linda and Rudy Slucker Religious School: MARCH NEWSLETTER

Dear Families,

Purim is a time to make noise, eat too many Hamantaschen and dress in costume! This is my first Purim at TSTI and I am VERY excited! I am busy preparing my costume and rehearsing my lines.  I love to dress in costume; it lets me pretend I am someone else and take a virtual “rest” from all the hats I wear.  For many years I dressed in a rotation of different costumes, but there was always one component that remained the same: a long blond wig. What struck me as I came home after the Megillah reading and carnival was that people really did not always recognize me!  I was not wearing an expensive, stylish wig. This one almost did not resemble hair, it was cheap and poorly made and VERY itchy.  To me it was so obvious that it was not my real hair, yet I got many second glances from adults and children who knew me very well.  I really reveled in being someone else for the day. That is one of the themes of Purim!

Please join me at my first  Purim celebration on  Sunday, March 11th.  The Megillah reading and Purimshpiel begins at 9 am, followed by games, crafts and fun for all!  Adults, don a costume and be someone else for a day!  See if you can find me among all of the other costumed characters…….I promise you I will not be wearing a blond wig!

L’Shalom,

Mindy Schreff
